2011 WALKS

Here is a full listing of our adventures in 2011. At the start of each year, we, with Dad, like to set ourselves some specific aims to achieve, and again this year there are two. First for our pal Little Eric it is to climb the 12 Howgill and associated fells, so that he can complete that challenge. For the rest of us, and Dad too, it is to finish the Birkett Fells, with just 28 of the 540 to summit, as we start the year. So how did we do? Well, due to circumstances, Dad was not able to do so many walks this year, and as a consequence the completion of the Howgill challenge has been deferred to 2012. The main effort was the attempt to complete the Birketts, and by mid October we were down to just one, namely Pen on the Eskdale side of Scafell Pike. Two attempts were made, but the weather and short days were to prevent us reaching its summit. No walks were done after November, as our Dad was unfortunately ill, and this was to prevent us starting our 2012 account until February.
